Whattaguy.

27 Mar

I love surprises. I love it when yet again there is proof, both visible and audible, of the wisdom in this truth: We must go beyond the surface and seek the beauty that is within. And I love it when that truth is proven in such an unexpectedly stunning way.

Hang on a sec, if you’ll just indulge me just a wee bit, I feel the need to gush some more: I especially love it when the underdog rises above a hurtful past and manages to come out so wonderful, not despite but perhaps even because.  I love it that someone who has every reason to be proud of himself chooses instead to remain refreshingly humble. I love that in the moment of victory he remains magnanimous, and doesn’t forget the friend who has journeyed along with him.

Such deep lessons from a seemingly simple video.

And whattaguy, seriously.

For the Young, the Once-Young, and the In-BeTWEENs

5 Oct

Age does not diminish the extreme disappointment of having a scoop of ice cream fall from the cone.  ~Jim Fiebig

Nor does it diminish the extreme joy of creating an album to hold your most precious memories!

We have three new exciting classes that are opening today at jessicasprague.com! And like a scrumptious banana-split festival, there are three flavors, perfect for the young, the once-young, and the in-beTWEENs among us!

First off, we have the newest instructor-led class (with no less than the awesome Jessica Sprague at the helm), the Family History Album Class!

Record the stories of your ancestry; tell the funny, touching, and unforgettable stories of your parents, grandparents, and the other branches of your family tree! I can think of no better way to get this all-important job of memory-keeping done than to create a 20-page heritage album (and even get it printed when you’re done, if you so desire!)

Classes begin on October 11th (that’s next Monday).

Click on the image below to learn more about the class! And when (not if ;) ) you decide that this is *just* what you’ve been dreaming of, clicking on this image will also bring you to the very place where you can sign up!

And for all those who are 8 – 18 years of age (or feeling 8 to 18 ;) ), you now have the chance to create your own Awesome Album! Whether this will be your first time to create a digital scrapbook album, or your nth time, you’ll love this opportunity to create your own 20-page album about yourself! Got homework and will be busy on some days? No worries! The class is self-paced, so you can go as quickly or as slowly as you wish!

You’ll get an awesome kit designed exclusively for the class by my beloved cereal-munching great friend Nisa, and (get our your bullhorns and announce this to the world), you’ll be led in the class by the Great Jessica Sprague! When you complete your album you’ll be able to share it with all your friends and loved ones in two different ways! Intrigued yet? Read all about it by clicking on the images below!

The Tween Album Class (featuring loads of doodles and bright colors and sweetness all over):

The Teen Album Class (featuring coolness in the form of paint swashes, rockstar titles, and stereos!):

Well? Whatchawaiting for? Go run and sign up and give yourself (and your friends) this gift of a class and album rolled into one!

Gotta get started now on my design work, so I’ll see you soon!

PS. Have you clicked on the images above yet? Don’t be shy: go right ahead and CLICK. ;)

Cool Schtuff #2

1 Oct

Oooh! Two delightful discoveries in one day: could anything be cooler? :D

TheFunTheory.com believes that fun is a great motivator; carry this theory further and then come up with the thesis that the easiest way to change people’s behavior for the better (i.e., get them to make the better, wiser choice) is simply to make it fun. Oooh. My kind of theory. My kind of people!

Now if only we could let world leaders in on this secret, and therefore get them to go about their business of effecting GOOD change in a fun way, that would be completely awesome now, wouldn’t it?

I love surfing the net. You never know when you’ll get hit by something totally cool. Like this:

Now how cool was that slow-mo lego bullet zinging through the air, right? :D

Challenges, Challenges

3 May

… Will we ever get enough of them?

We just finished our {inter}national Scrapbooking Day challenges at jessicasprague.com, and boy, the amazing challenge layouts that now hang on the walls of those special galleries will make your mouth drop open in awe!

‘Course we got all revved up with the excitement in the “challenge” air, so we are moving right along into a week’s worth of daily challenges! Whee!

Back by popular demand, on its second annual run, is the 7 Days in May Challenge! A whole week of daily challenges, with a couple of surprise freebies thrown in with the challenge (not telling you which day, so you’ll have to join every day! heehee ;) )… it’s bound to be a week of super fun and scrapping excitement!

Click on the flyer above to get whisked off to our General Forum (check out the Spotlights Area on top for the daily challenges). Our challenges are always open to all, and it doesn’t matter whether you’re a beginner, an intermediate or an advanced scrapper; come one, come all!

{ Pssst. If you went super-shopping during this weekend of oh-so-fab sales, joining 7 Days in May gives you the perfect excuse to get those goodies out and play! Just sayin’… ;) )

Keeping It Green

Quick, answer this question: when you had to do reports in high school, how did you present them? (If you’re a teenager right now in high school, you’re exempted from this pop quiz ;) ). I am so proud of my niece who now communicates with me via Facebook since she lives oceans away in Europe. Here a project she made for the purpose of raising environmental awareness among her peers in a way that appeals to them. :)

Cool, huh? I’d like to be a student again today, just so I could make projects like this.

Huh.

Maybe not. I kind of like this no-tests, grades-free zone I’ve been in for more than 25 years.

Alrighty, then! Gotta get back to work! See you in a bit!

QUICK! Run! Only 24 hours!

30 Apr

… for you to take this challenge! It’s one of two special challenges especially created for this week, and participating in it is guaranteed to bring lots of benefits! You get to grow your skills, you get to make new friends and connect with old ones, and you get a chance to win in the drawing of prizes!

But run, because the challenge is only up for 24 hours… from 10:00 pm EDT tonight up to tomorrow evening, when another exciting new challenge comes up!

Read all about it HERE! (Or click on the image above). And JOIN US! (It’s open to all, so if you want to play, we’ll meet you with open arms!)

{{{ BIG HUGS!!! }}}

PS. Be sure to check the HOMEPAGE for super delicious freebies from our designer team! (It changes every 24 hours for the entire weekend, so be sure you grab ‘em quickly!)

If only…

17 Apr

It’s a fact. I did not find my way to my hubby’s heart through his stomach.

But I would sooo love to be able to do this:

Swooning…

11 Jan

… over this, for the past 36 hours (thank you to my dear friend from the land of quilts, my classmate of many years and my soul-sister–you know what that means, right, M?–for telling me all about it!)

Here ya go, my friends… hope you have as much fun swooning along with me!

And discovered this one too:

Jon Schmidt totatlly rocks. Absolutely love  his U2 meets Pachelbel too!

Enjoy! :)

Back with a new post soon! ;)

Try not to smile…

31 Aug

… when you see this, and I promise you I will pluck the moon from the sky and give it to you in a glass jar.

Enjoy!

Now that you’re smiling, will you forgive me for being absent from my blog porch for so long? ;) I promise: never again will I be Missing In Action! (That thing called Real Life grabbed me by the collar and wouldn’t let go! In the meantime, I turned 41 years old! More on that soon!)

((((hugs))))

PS. And this is why I love computer geeks almost as much as I love babies!

Fun Find!

30 May

Whoa. It’s been a long time, hasn’t it? Forgive me for being MIA. Summer tends to eat up Real Life time, and we’ve got some awesome stuff going on in our Spraground that has been taking up my extra hours (and I’ve been loving it!)

Last Monday we (meaning myself and my two awesome, amazing, and hugely creative Spragsistas, Janie and Linda) launched our first-ever Spragweek Challenge: 7 Days in May, which is essentially creating a layout a day for an entire week. The response has been terrific! Our Challenge Gallery has been overflowing with creative masterpieces! (If you haven’t joined us yet, come join us now! Anyone is welcome, and that means you, you, you, and you! ;) )

So… anyway, in keeping up with this fit of creative frenzy enveloping our Spraground, I was strolling up and down netland today when I came upon this neat thing featured on the blog of Swiss Miss, another recent discovery which is a total repository of inspirational stuff!

Lookie!

thewallntbk

This is the. walls notebook and you can find it on thinkofthe.com, another fun site with some really creative stuff (the kind that I can imagine myself thinking of in the wee hours of the morning when my creative muse is being playful).

The walls notebook is filled with pages and pages of different walls, and what do you do with a notebook? You write in it, right? So when you use the walls notebook, not only do you get to write what’s on your mind, but you also get to satisfy the hidden graffiti artist within you, without risking being jailed for writing on the walls of New York City. What a fun concept!

If you want to turn your monitor into your own wall, you can also draw right here on the walls notebook website (and you can email your artwork to your proud parents… or grandkids… too! )

See? (Childlike scrawl care of my inner child. ROFL)

wallnotes

Okay, enough playing for now… just wanted to touch base with you and let you all know that I’ve been missing you, and leave you with a promise that I’ll be back soon!

((((hugs))))
